Introduction: Our Research Vision
The Malaysian Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (MOFAS) recognises that evidence-based practice is the foundation of high-quality patient care. Through its commitment to research, MOFAS seeks to advance the field of foot and ankle surgery by promoting clinical, translational, and collaborative studies that reflect the needs of the Malaysian population and beyond.
Our research initiatives aim to explore innovative techniques, evaluate long-term patient outcomes, and contribute to the global body of orthopaedic knowledge — particularly in areas related to trauma, diabetic foot, reconstruction, sports injuries, and deformity correction.
MOFAS serves as a platform that connects clinicians, academics, researchers, and students in driving excellence through research.
Research Objectives
- To encourage and support clinical and surgical research in the subspecialty of foot and ankle.
- To develop multicentre research collaborations locally and internationally.
- To establish a national database on foot and ankle conditions and surgical outcomes.
- To promote publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- To foster research interest among orthopaedic trainees and early-career surgeons.
