MESSAGE FROM
President of Malaysian Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society
Dear Esteemed Members of the Malaysian Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (MOFAS),
It is with immense honor and humility that I accept the role as Chairman of the Malaysian Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (MOFAS). I extend my sincere appreciation to the past leadership for their unwavering commitment in shaping the foundation of MOFAS, and I look forward to building upon this strong legacy with all of you.
With over a decade of focused experience in foot and ankle surgery, I bring to this role a deep passion for clinical excellence, research advancement, and innovation. My professional journey, enriched by sub-specialty training in Switzerland under Professor Beat Hintermann and in the United Kingdom under Professor Rohan Rajan, has instilled in me the importance of global standards and collaboration in advancing our field.
Currently serving as the Head of Advanced Trauma, Foot and Ankle Surgery Unit, and Diabetic Foot Services at PPUKM, I have had the opportunity to contribute actively to both surgical care and academic development. I am proud to share that our unit now leads in foot and ankle treatment volumes both nationally and regionally, a testament to our collective dedication and evolving expertise.
My vision for MOFAS is to elevate our society as a regional leader in foot and ankle education, innovation, and patient care. With your support, we will expand research initiatives, increase knowledge sharing platforms, and promote community outreach—particularly for underserved populations such as the B40 group, who have benefitted from our initiatives like the MyB Prosthetic Limb project.
Innovation remains a key pillar of our mission. Through platforms such as the Virtual Reality in Total Ankle Replacement Surgery—which has been recognized with multiple awards—we will continue pushing the boundaries of orthopaedic excellence in Malaysia.
I believe that the strength of MOFAS lies in its members. Your experiences, insights, and commitment are invaluable as we chart the society’s direction together. I invite every member to engage actively, contribute meaningfully, and collaborate openly.
To the council members, I thank you for your dedication and urge for our continued teamwork in navigating MOFAS toward a future defined by impact, relevance, and excellence.
Let us move forward with a shared purpose—to enhance orthopaedic foot and ankle care across Malaysia and beyond.
With sincere appreciation and commitment,
Prof. Dr. Mohd Yazid Bajuri
